History of the Board

On March 17, 1969, The Mental Health and Retardation Board was formed through a resolution from the Delaware County Commissioners. The Ohio Mental Health Act of 1988 separated the Boards of Mental Health and Boards of Mental Retardation (now known as Boards of Developmental Disabilities) and the Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services Act of 1989 added the provision of drug and alcohol services to Mental Health Boards. Today the Delaware-Morrow Mental Health and Recovery Services Board works to ensure high-quality, evidence-based, behavioral health services are available locally to all residents in our communities.

The Mission of the Delaware-Morrow Mental Health and Recovery Services Board is to promote wellness and support recovery by planning, funding, and monitoring public mental health and addiction services for Delaware and Morrow Counties.

The Board shall accomplish this mission by treating others with dignity and respect, demonstrating leadership and professionalism, empowering collaboration, being open to innovative solutions, actively pursuing excellence, adhering to high ethical standards, and being good stewards of the public's funds and trust.

The Board will continue its dedication to the recovery of Delaware and Morrow County residents by seeking and managing Federal, State, and Local funds to address the evolving behavioral health of our communities.
